Historical Note
Johnny and the Shy Guys was a rock 'n' roll band from La Crosse, Wisconsin, that was active in the 1960s and was managed by Al Schultz of Little Fort Records in Waukegan, Illinois.The musical style of the group was a combination of surf music, garage rock, and rock 'n' roll. The band toured Wisconsin and Illinois actively during the 1960s and recorded several 45's and singles with Little Fort Records, Regal Records West, and also "Ma" Records at Shorty's Beer Stube in La Crosse. Band members included Leslie "Les" King (drums and vocals), Donald Bauer, Rudy von Ruden (vocals), Larry Ball (bass), and John "Johnny" Bernadot (vocals and lead guitar). Recorded hits by the band included "Shorty's Shack," "From Me to You" (written by John Lennon, Paul McCartney), "Moon Dawg," "Till the End of Time," and "You are My Sunshine."
