Abstract

The La Crosse Community Concert Association was founded by John G. Felton, Sr. (1885-1958) in 1932, and he remained the president of the organization through 1952.

The collection consists mainly of concert programs and artist's promotional photographs, many of which are autographed, of the performing artists, as well as correspondence, lists of artists, membership cards and ticket stubs. The La Crosse Community Concert Association's last season was 1979-1980.

Abstract

Scrapbook compiled by Ida Schumann of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Materials date from 1890 through 1937 and primarily include newspaper clippings and programs from the musical recitals of Schumann and her students. Schumann was a musician and piano teacher; she lived from 1860 until 1949.

Abstract Originally named the La Crosse City Band, the group of 32 began performing in 1931 and was the official city band for La Crosse, Wisconsin, until 1947 when city financial support ceased. The name was then changed to the La Crosse Concert Band. Privately sponsored, the band of professional musicians continues to perform every summer in La Crosse parks. Abstract

Newspaper clippings and programs of the Lenten Organ Concerts held between 1987 and 2002 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. These concerts were put on by the Friends of the Symphony and the La Crosse Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
