Scope and Contents

From the Series:

The Programs and Events section consists of a wide variety of materials ranging from handouts gathered at weekly chapter programs to specific projects. This series also includes artifacts from weekly meetings, convention banners, and the like. The Extension file comprises information regarding the local La Crosse chapter's role in the creation of a Rotary club in Dubna, Russia, La Crosse’s sister city. This includes an historical sketch of Charles Hanson (2001) describing the origins and connections between sister cities La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA, and Dubna, Russia. Invocations (1972-1991) contains memorial statements in honor of deceased members as well as more traditional prayers. Project materials are divided into four categories: community improvement, higher education, international, and youth. Singing and songbooks are an important Rotary ritual, and several examples of songbooks exist to document this activity. Finally, other programs and events comprises general information presented to the Rotary Club by speakers invited to give programs at club meetings.
